This welcome pack provides all information on our space and the terms and conditions of your membership to assist you in making the most of your coworking experience.
Your Space, My Space
The joys of coworking are much more fun if we respect each other’s space & things.
- Swapping desks, chairs or other equipment needs permission from the owner sometimes your coworkers, sometimes Salt Space staff.
- We encourage chatting and collaboration in our space, but as with all modern work environments please use headphones for your online calls and while listening to music.
- If you’d like privacy for your calls or conversations please book the meeting room, utilise our phone call booth, or alternatively the balcony is a great place to meet.
24/7 Access Card Holders – Exit Checklist – from 5pm

**If you see a door open after 5pm & weekends please close it for us to keep Salt Space secure.

Phone Call Booth
Please utilise our phone call booth for private calls or 1-2 person meetings as you need it. Occasionally this room will be booked, please let us know via email if you wish to secure the space for an allocated time.
Parking
Free unlimited street parking is available on the surrounding streets in New Farm, there are some limits signed only around Merthyr Village. Street Parking availability is good during business hours. Undercover parking is available for 3hrs free underneath Merthyr Village.
Printing
Location: Printer is located in reception and is free for ‘reasonable use’. Instructions & troubleshooting are above the printer.
Connecting to the Printer: Accessed via the Salt Space wifi network.

Access after 5pm & weekends
This requires a 24/7 Access card. We ask if you could please ensure air conditioners and lights are turned off as you leave & all doors remain closed & locked at all times.
Kitchens
- We have two kitchens at Salt Space. Our kitchens are fully stocked for your use with the following items:
- Crockery/Glassware/Mugs/Cutlery/Servingware
- Tea/Coffee/Sugar/Salt
- Microwave/Boiling Jugs/Fridges/toaster
- Any other consumable items marked as Salt Space
- Filtered water in both kitchens, billi tap filtered pre-boiled water in main kitchen
- Personal items can be named with pens provided on the bench and stored in fridges, the cupboard below the tea/coffee bench in the main kitchen or the cupboard below the microwave in the kitchen beside the meeting room.
- Please leave kitchen clean after use.
Coffee Machine (Breville)
- Located in kitchen next to the meeting room
- Ground Coffee/ chocolate powder/ sugar provided in cupboard above microwave
- Please refill with filtered water
- Please remove ground beans & clean after use
Fridges
Feel free to use the fridges. Remove your unwanted food from the fridge as required. The permanent marker on the bench can be used to label your items so they are not thrown out during the clean.
End of Trip Facilities (Shower)
We have a shower in the bathroom next to the meeting room. There is body wash and bathmats provided as well as spare towels if you forget yours, please launder and return. Towel drying hooks are provided on either end of the balcony to dry during the day.
Air-conditioning & windows
Airconditioning remotes are in each of the spaces, you are welcome to turn them on and off as required. Same for the windows if you prefer fresh air for the day. Please remember to close windows and turn off aircon as you leave each visit.

Which desks are available?
Hot Desks
Look out for ‘Desk Available’ signage, please place this sign down once you have picked a desk.
Some desks are rented as dedicated desks on a permanent basis so are not available as hot desks. These desks have coworkers personal belongings on them.

Pop by for a tour to pick your dedicated desk, we will show you to desks with storage and credenzas to store your personal belongings.

Balcony, Outdoor Space
The outdoor balcony is shared space, and is available for you to use. It’s perfect for networking and socialising! Please note that smoking is not permitted in this area or in Salt Space. To ensure you don’t get locked out on the balcony, you can latch the door or ensure your 24/7 access card is on you while out there, there is a swipe to enter.
Desk space for your visitors & guests
You are welcome to have visitors, however, should the visitor wish to use a desk while visiting, a desk should be booked and payment made accordingly.

Visitors & Security
While your coworkers will look out for you and your space, there will still be visitors and strangers walking through the house from time to time, usually invited by a coworker in business hours. With this in mind, please remain alert about security of your own space, and that of your coworkers. Lockers are available if you require lockable storage as well as some of our credenzas.
Stationery
If you need extra paper, a stapler or stapler remover, these items are in the drawer below the printer.
Insurance
Salt Space Coworking insurance does not cover individual coworkers so please ensure that you have sufficient contents and public liability insurance.
Access Cards & Keys
Desks
24/7 access card is available but requires a $400 security deposit (refundable on return of card). Each access card has an individual identification number and is not to be shared with any other person. If an access card is lost please advise Salt Space staff immediately so that they can be deactivated. Lost cards may incur a $50 replacement fee.
Studios
Studio keys and access cards will be provided to you as per the lease agreement. Each access card has an individual identification number and are not be shared with another person. If a key card is lost please advise Salt Space staff immediately so that it can be suspended or deactivated. Lost key fobs/cards may incur a $50 replacement fee.
Utilities
All utilities are included in the cost of desks / studios. To help us keep costs low for everyone please:
- Turn off air con and lights if you are the last to use the area
- Clean up after yourself in shared spaces
Office Cleaning
- Cleaners come through Tuesday & Friday early mornings to clean all shared areas, empty bins and vacuum & mop floors.
- Everyone is responsible for cleaning their own space and desks.
- Cleaning items are available for your use under both kitchens sinks, antibacterial wipes and sanitiser are available in the lounge space.
- Please place all food and drink scraps in the large black bins in the kitchens.
- Please dispose of any large cardboard boxes or larger paper waste in the industrial bin, downstairs at the back of the building.
Head Lease
The building located at 888 Brunswick Street (Salt House) head tenancies are managed by a local Real Estate agency. Salt Space Coworking manages the subleases. If you have any questions/concerns/suggestions about Salt Space you can email work@saltspace.com.au.
Permitted Use
Salt Space Coworking is strictly for office use only. Salt Space does not provide accommodation and overnight stays are not permitted.
Fire Safety
Please familiarise yourself with the attached fire evacuation diagram. Due to the age of the building it is not equipped with fire alarms. Please remain vigilant and alert others if you observe a fire. In an emergency dial 000 and proceed to the identified emergency exit. Fire extinguishers are located at the top of the entrance stairs, on the deck and outside the kitchen. There is also a fire hose located on the deck.
Computer & Electrical Equipment
It is your responsibility to ensure that your property is fit for purpose and is used in a safe manner. You must ensure that any electrical equipment you bring into the Space complies with current legislative requirements.
Information Privacy
At Salt Space Coworking, your privacy is important to us and we are dedicated to ensuring your personal information remains private. We only use your personal information for the purposes of running our business. As a member or visitor to Salt Space we use your email address to communicate with you. We use Odoo to email you about day to day housekeeping and other matters that help us in running our business. Invoicing
Dedicated Desks & Shared Office Space
Rent must be paid by the due date (in most cases this will be the first day of the month) to maintain your monthly membership.
Hot Desk – Day & Monthly Passes
Passes are purchased upfront of desk bookings.
Studios
Leases are paid 1 month upfront and must be paid by the due date (in most cases this will be the first day of the month).
Emergency After Hours Contact Number
- Salt Space after hours contact number is 3063 7264. Please call this number first in relation to building emergencies or matters (such as a leaking pipe, no power etc).
- If you are unable to contact us on the above number and it is a building related emergency (eg. burst pipe) Beacon Real Estate can be contacted on their 24 hr emergency contact number 3257 2175.
- In a life threatening medical, fire or police emergency dial 000 (police, ambulance, fire).
Police attendance (no emergency) 131 444.
